Why I do it

Familiar surroundings,
familiar people

Personalised one-to-one care is crucial for dementia sufferers because it caters specifically to their individual needs, preferences, and routines, providing a level of familiarity and consistency that is vital for their well-being. Dementia often causes confusion, anxiety, and a loss of independence, and tailored care helps mitigate these challenges by fostering a sense of security and trust.

In contrast to the impersonal approach often associated with larger care agencies, my one-to-one care fosters a nurturing and compassionate environment, enabling dementia sufferers to feel valued, understood, and supported.

Individual Attention

A dedicated carer can focus entirely on the person with dementia, adapting activities, communication, and care routines to suit their unique requirements, moods, and abilities. This enhances the quality of care and ensures that nothing is overlooked.

2

Consistency & Routine

People with dementia often struggle with change and unfamiliarity. A single, consistent caregiver builds a relationship of trust and understanding, which can help reduce anxiety and confusion.

3

Enhanced Communication

One-to-one care allows for better communication, as the carer has the time to learn and adapt to the individual's communication style, including non-verbal cues and behaviours. This can be particularly important as dementia progresses.

4

Promote Dignity & Independence

Personalised care ensures that the individual’s preferences, values, and dignity are respected, while also encouraging them to remain as independent as possible in their daily activities.

5

Tailored Stimulation & Engagement

Dementia sufferers benefit from activities that stimulate their minds and bring enjoyment. A personalised approach ensures these activities are meaningful and relevant to the individual’s history, interests, and abilities.

6

Improved Health & Safety

One-to-one care reduces the risk of accidents or neglect, as the carer can closely monitor the individual’s physical and emotional health, addressing issues promptly.
